Elmwood located near Meadowlark was originally part of the old Town of Jasper Place until its annexation in 1964. Jasper Place served as a residential housing alternative to living in the larger city.
Homes in Elmwood Edmonton were almost entirely built during the 1960s, and most of the properties are single detached houses. With a freeway and two major arterials forming three of Elmwood’s four borders, home owners have good access to destinations in the city’s west end, Misericordia Hospital and West Edmonton Mall.
The Elmwood community was once called West Lynnwood. In the 1910s, the western portion of Elmwood was named Eureka. The majority of houses in Elmwood are still owner occupied.
