About Bearspaw Edmonton

Houses in Bearspaw Edmonton range in price from above average to luxury home prices. This is one of the most desirable areas in the southern portion of the Kaskitayo district. It is located south of Keheewin, west of South Edmonton Common, across from Twin Brooks, bounded by Calgary Trail, Anthony Henday and the Blackmud Creek Ravine. Real estate development began in the late 1970s, but most of the Bearspaw Edmonton houses were built in the 1980s. Many of these Bearspaw houses feature over 4000 square feet of living space. Bearspaw was named in honor of Chief Masgwaahisd (Bear’s Paw) of the Stoney Band, who signed Band Treaty Number 7 at Blackfoot Crossing in 1877. Bearspaw Edmonton is centred on a recreational site that includes Bearspaw Lake and a permanent stormwater retention pond, located within the southern portion of Kaskitayo. Bearspaw is situated between South Edmonton Common and close to the Century Park LRT, named in honour of Chief Masgwaahisd of the Stoney Band, who signed Band Treaty Number 7 in 1877. Residential real estate in Bearspaw was constructed in the 1980's and offer several property styles including bungalows, "old style" bi-levels, Back-front and level split houses. Although a number of duplexes and townhouses are also located within Bearspaw. Most houses are owner-occupied. There are seven Condominium complexes including Breckenridge detached condos, Arbormill and Brookside Estates Duplexes and Bearspaw Townhouses.
