About Calder Edmonton

Calder Edmonton is a mature community located in northwest Edmonton, north of Yellowhead between Athlone and Lauderdale. Residential real estate development in Calder is changing from the old wartime homes to new half duplexes. Houses in Calder Edmonton extend a period of time reflected in the age of its structures. Some of Calder’s pre-1950s houses date back to the subdivisions of 1905, 1909, and 1910. Many more homes in the Kensington area were built after World War II, and some of these structures replaced those constructed before the war. Since the early 1900's homes have been built in Calder throughout every decade, mainly due to the quick downtown proximity and the large lots. Calder was part of the Hudson's Bay Company Reserve and settled primarily by employees of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway.
