Canon Ridge Edmonton lies within the Hermitage area along Victoria Trail and the River Valley Hermitage which is an awesome outdoor recreational spot all year round, between Overlanders and Kernohan. It is named for an Anglican minister who arrived in Edmonton in 1875 which had two cattle farms until as late as 1960. Canon Ridge Edmonton land development was held up during the 1960s while government officials and developers addressed concerns about residential development too near the industrial plants in the vicinity. By 1970 these concerns were resolved, and house construction in Canon Ridge, northeast Edmonton began with mostly single detached houses and all townhomes, on attractive curving streets and cul-de-sacs with easy access to river valley parks, making it extremely popular with younger families.
