About Cromdale Edmonton

Cromdale is one of the oldest communities in the Highlands area, located in the northeast sector of the city with housing development beginning soon after a streetcar line was extended from the city’s central business district east along Jasper Avenue, north on Kinnaird Street- 82 Street, and then east again on Pine Avenue-112 Avenue. The Cromdale Public School closed in 1980 however, the Cromdale is now serviced by Virginia Park Elementary. Located in a prime real estate location, house prices in Cromdale are higher than the average character house price per square foot in Edmonton. It is not unusual to find a home from the 1930s in the half million dollar price range. Almost half of the houses in Cromdale overlook Edmonton's river valley. Cromdale is located in the Highlands Area between McCauley and Parkdale, along Jasper Avenue, bounded by 112 Avenue and River Valley Kinnaird in real estate zone 09. Today Cromdale real estate has very few houses, but for decades, was a predominantly detached house. During the 1960s, Cromdale is proximity to the downtown and its good transportation linkages spurred a second major development phase and many of the houses in west Cromdale were replaced with higher density apartments. Cromdale, meaning crooked valley, is also the name of a place in Scotland.
