About Empire Park Edmonton

Empire Park, Edmonton is a convenient, diverse neighborhood, with a mix of residential, commercial, institutional and industrial land uses close to the University of Alberta and offers major shopping facility for residents of nearby areas at the Southgate Shopping Centre and along Gateway Boulevard. The name Empire Park likely references the British Empire, as many early Edmontonians were of British origin.

Real estate in Empire Park was constructed in the 1960's with hand-built houses by master carpenters. Empire Park has two main condo complexes - Brass Southgate which offers townhouse style homes and Southview Court which were built in 2005 and runs along 104A Street.  While development of the area did not begin until the second half of the 20th century, Empire Park has existed since the early 1910s. Unlike most Edmonton communities, Empire Park consists of only a few detached single-family houses and is characterized by a very high proportion of condominiums and makes it a great place to purchase an investment property being within close proximity to Southgate, University, and Strathcona districts.
